The Opportunity

The AVP, Senior Financial Officer is responsible for the direction, control and coordination of all financial, accounting, and planning activities within their assigned line of business or staff agency. This position will be responsible for monitoring the system of accounting and financial controls. The Sr. Financial Officer will be responsible for development, reporting, and analysis of operational and strategic financial and operating budgets and forecasts. In addition, the Sr. Financial Officer evaluates current and proposed business plans and makes recommendations that will accrue to the profitability of the product or service, provide additional member value, or increase the productivity of expenses.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Establishes control procedures and monitors the Financial Accounting functions including revenue and expense recognition, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

  • Responsible for establishing appropriate quantification techniques, the appropriate use of data, for review and control processes to ensure the accuracy of actual and projected financial statements.

  • Leads the financial planning, forecasting and stress testing impact analysis processes for the one or more Companies including budget development, planning meetings, monthly business meetings, monthly reporting and briefing support.

  • Promotes the effective integration and communication of forecast drivers and assumptions.

  • Serves as a liaison between CFO and the Company.

  • Develops and delivers standardized P&L and Balance Sheet monthly, quarterly and annual management results of actual results for one or more Companies and product lines.

  • Provides detailed performance commentary of actual results.

  • Responsible for reporting results of operations to the President and senior leadership.

  • Through monthly and ongoing analysis, understands emerging trends and engages with management to develop and operationalize plans to improve financial performance for the Company and/or product lines.

  • Solve or participate in solving key business issues.

  • Responsible for ensuring long-term financial strength of the Company through the identification/quantification of risk, setting capital targets to cover those risks, and ensuring financial goals are aligned to maintain the desired target capital.

  • Responds to third party requests for information, including Regulators and Rating Agencies.

  • Participate in benchmarking Company results against competitors.

  • Manages a financial function and associated team or teams, including development of strategy, goals and objectives.

  • Leads and coaches a staff to facilitate professional development.

  • Ensures effective utilization of systems and technology to ensure streamlined effective and efficient processes.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of SFO tools.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience. MBA/CPA preferred


What you have:

  • 10 or more years of progressive related experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment required.

  • 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including serving as a senior finance executive or CFO supporting large, complex business organizations

  • Demonstrated success of partnering with executive leadership to influence strategic and operational business decisions and deliver measurable financial and business outcomes

  • Broad finance experience in Financial Services, Insurance, Wealth Management supporting distribution and enterprise functions including Wealth, Operations, PMO, sales, marketing

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Demonstrated strength leadership and executive presence

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $195,230.00 - $351,410.00

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
