The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Investment Portfolio Strategist Lead with a specialized focus on Private Credit to manage and guide investment portfolios. This role is responsible for ensuring portfolios align with the organization's financial objectives, demonstrating deep expertise in private credit markets and strategies. The ideal candidate will analyze investment opportunities, make informed recommendations, and ensure strict compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position requires close collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including risk, legal, tax, accounting, treasury, and compliance, to support sound investment decisions and optimize portfolio performance within the private credit landscape.
This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.
What you'll do:
- Conducts analysis of complex portfolios, strategies and trends on a regular basis and ad hoc analysis as required in response to internal, external and senior management inquiries.
- Meets with third party managers and evaluates investment performance with respect to their mandate.
- Makes recommendations on portfolio strategy.
- Analyzes and recommends changes in portfolio positions and strives for continuous improvement in the efficiency of the analysis process.
- Maintains ongoing dialogue and strong relationships with the Treasury, Tax, Accounting, Compliance, Enterprise Risk, and other areas to make sure that investment information is communicated in a concise and timely manner.
- Advises senior executives, and other areas on matters regarding investment strategy, investment tax strategies, economic environment, and other business information to facilitate the financial strength of USAA.
- Stays knowledgeable of the business, understands how financial market conditions drive investment performance.
- Leads cross functional teams in strategy development and implementation of business solutions or key initiatives.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or quantitative field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
Experiences that will support your success:
- 4 or more years of related experience and accountability for complex tasks and/or projects required within a financial services organization.
- Advanced knowledge of financial markets and emerging risks impacting investment portfolio performance, specifically within private credit.
- Experience conducting thorough due diligence on direct investment opportunities and third-party investment managers specializing in private credit. Analyze market trends, economic conditions, and specific credit risks to provide strategic recommendations for portfolio construction and asset allocation.
- Advanced knowledge of complex asset classes such as asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities, and/or alternative investments is preferred.
- Experience preferred in selecting and managing 3rd party investment managers in a multi-asset portfolio.
- Experience with legal contracts pertaining to external investment managers and investment services.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $164,780 - $314,960.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
