The Opportunity
The Investment Operations Internship is an outstanding program where you’ll get to learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on-experience in the Life Co organization.
Collaborates with internal and external partners to develop, coordinate and successfully implement business solutions and initiatives for investment operations. Supports project prioritization to best manage business resource utilization within assigned functional area. Serves as a resource on cross-functional teams and supports business on risk mitigation opportunities and changes to the regulatory environment.

The Investment Operations Internship will be based at both the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas and our Plano, Texas office. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.
What you'll do:
Our Interns work under direct supervision and follow risk and compliance procedures and guidance, perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members, including the following tasks:
Serves as a resource on initiatives and project teams related to investment product and process development, business rules analysis and service delivery; coordinates cross-functional efforts with program/project sponsors and stakeholders to support effective implementation.
Applies developing knowledge of investment industry products and technology applications to assist with identifying routine issues, perform basic analysis and contribute to process improvement.
Provides input to create recommendations on business solutions to meet member and/or business needs, and supports team through implementation.
Researches, develops, and administers rules, requirements, procedures, contracts and processes to ensure compliance, product competitiveness, profitable growth and adherence to USAA's commitment to World Class member experiences.
Participates in the development of investment operations business rules through collaboration with team members, management and internal and external partners.
Partners with process owners to develop business cases, test strategies and test criteria, and assists with test execution and defect prioritization and resolution.
Monitors for the consistent execution of operational and market performance policies across investment operations and helps prepare trend analyses.
Monitors business activities to identify if associated risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you need to have:
To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2027 internship will start on June 2, 2027 and last through August 13, 2027.
Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Data Analytics, Risk Management

Developing knowledge of investment products (e.g., mutual funds, brokerage, retirement products)

Basic proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft systems
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $27 - $36. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location.
