The Opportunity

As a Senior Process Engineer, the candidate selected for this position will analyze and optimize processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste. This includes process designing, troubleshooting, process optimization, process analysis, process documentation, quality control, process automation and quality assurance. In addition, this candidate will have the ability to perform process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to achieve operational excellence and meet goals. Also collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement process improvement initiatives, and contribute to the overall success of claims.

Partners with cross-functional teams, in the application of process engineering principles to design and/or optimize business processes and their overall performance. Responsible for consistently executing the Business Process Management (BPM) strategy within a CoSA or across the Association. Executes process improvement projects that sustainably improve member and employee experiences and business deliverables. Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Serves as a mentor, trainer, coach, and technical leader in support of Process Excellence using process improvement methodologies (recruiter added)
  • Contributes/delivers process Improvement projects that deliver measurable cost savings, improved quality, or increased production.
  • Utilizes knowledge of customers, products and processes to analyze business problem(s) and determine the best methodology to resolve defect or issue.
  • Synthesizes analyses, identifies root causes and develops and recommends key work products.
  • Analyzes processes to identify areas of improvement, root cause analysis, and provide appropriate analytics to facilitate business effort prioritization.
  • Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of an unusual nature.
  • Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product and identifies opportunities and potential process engineer solutions.
  • Develops and designs process improvement recommendations; influences and mobilizes stakeholder commitment to change process, systems and structures to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.
  • Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
  • Assembles reports to document process status and changes.
  • Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor performance.
  • Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years of process engineering, methodologies, and disciplines
  • Demonstrated use of statistics, LEAN Six Sigma, data analysis, and industry tools (SIPOC, VOC, Process Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Process Requirements, SPC (Statistical Process Control)).
  • Demonstrated ability proactively influences change at the leadership level and team level.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Black Belt or Green Belt certification (one which required successful implementation of a process related project that solved a business problem/improved business performance) OR demonstrated completion of 3 Lean/Six Sigma projects.
  • Experience utilizing process engineering platforms i.e. ARIS, VISIO, Minitab, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience identifying and influencing Claims process improvements and issue remediation

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
