The Opportunity

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will provide advanced technical leadership for Snowflake platform engineering initiatives and serve as a key contributor to architecture, automation, operational excellence, platform modernization, and AI enablement initiatives. This role will lead complex engineering initiatives, mentor colleagues, influence platform strategy, and partner across technology organizations to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions that accelerate business outcomes and support the organization's long-term data and AI objectives.

This candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting infrastructure and platform solutions that enable enterprise data, analytics, and AI services. The role balances availability, security, operational efficiency, scalability, and functional requirements to deliver reliable production services. The engineer will proactively identify and manage risks, ensuring issues are appropriately escalated, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance requirements.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Independently designs scalable platform and infrastructure solutions, leads complex system implementations, and drives automation of service delivery and operational processes.
  • Independently resolves highly complex technology production issues and leads troubleshooting of end-to-end solutions that span across multiple systems.
  • Leads analysis of end-to-end system failures to identify opportunities across multiple systems. Makes recommendations to business leaders on best solutions.
  • Independently experiments with new patterns and technologies.
  • Helps establish and improve engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns with peers and the business.
  • Understands the customer and proactively identifies innovative solutions and ideas for the product/business.
  • Mentors engineers and provides technical coaching on the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise platform solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and CI/CD pipelines to automate platform deployment and operations.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 6 years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s) to include 2 years' experience in Systems Operations environment supporting complex environment deployment and infrastructure management activities or applicable IT experience such as IT Management, Software Development, Data Engineering, and Agile Product/Release Management.
  • 4 years of experience in creating, modifying, and maintaining infrastructure and individual system components.
  • Advanced level of business acumen in the areas of business operations, risk management, industry practices and emerging trends.
  • Knowledge and proficient understanding of designing scalable IT system infrastructures, implementing system changes, or automating service delivery and maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud technologies and tools.

What sets you apart:

  • Deep experience administering and engineering Snowflake at enterprise scale.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale SaaS or cloud-native platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, performance optimization, security, governance, and networking.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and Git-based deployment practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing platform automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data, analytics, AI, or machine learning platforms.
  • Experience leading platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments with strong risk and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on complex initiatives.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence architecture and engineering decisions across organizations.
  • Experience with cloud networking, private connectivity solutions (e.g., AWS PrivateLink), identity and access management, and security controls within SaaS platforms.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114,080 - $218,030.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
