The Opportunity

The Finance Future Leaders Program Data and Analytics Track is crafted to develop entry level talent to be the future generation of leaders for the organization through meaningful projects and team assignments, senior leader exposure, and professional development opportunities within the Finance Data and Analytics Teams at USAA.

The program is a 2-year rotational program where participants will rotate through a series of challenging and unique assignments. Each assignment will be approximately 8 months in length but may vary based on business needs. Throughout each rotation, participants can expect to strengthen their finance business acumen, expand their insights and analytics skillset, develop project leadership capabilities, gain exposure to key finance business functions and disciplines, interact with executive leaders, and receive frequent developmental feedback. The Future Leaders Program is open to bachelor’s or master’s degree graduates in data and analytics related fields who exhibit strategic thinking, strong D&A acumen, and outstanding leadership potential.

Possible Rotation Assignments:

  • Information Stewardship and Data Governance: Manages Finance Information assets and remedies gaps related to Enterprise Data Governance requirements. Builds and implements data monitoring rules using a variety of techniques and tools, supports data management efforts in adherence to USAA internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations.

  • Business Intelligence: Analyzes business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to analysts and decision makers. Crafts specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements.

  • Insight Delivery: Within defined guidelines and frameworks, consults with the business to understand and define opportunities and recommends solutions by analyzing data and providing key insights to inform decisions.

  • Data Science: Within defined guidelines and framework, translates business problems into applied statistical, machine learning, simulation, and optimization solutions to inform actionable business insights and drive business value through automation, revenue generation, and expense and risk reduction.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position is based in San Antonio, TX or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Applies proficient functional knowledge to propose solutions and support varying assignments and projects.

  • Assists with program specific projects and initiatives and serves in a support capacity on cross functional teams.

  •  Under direct supervision, supports forecasting/planning process and model improvement initiatives for a business area or expense category.

  • Compiles and analyzes data to create financial reports and analysis/cost benefit analysis to aid internal and external management decision-making.

  • Researches and organizes data regarding product assignment, product pricing, product profitability and ad-hoc analysis.

  • Develops workforce planning process knowledge to build strong internal customer relationships with key stakeholders to define and understand strategic workforce objectives.

  • Follows documented procedures for facilitation of workforce planning process and escalates any identified issues to senior analyst or business leaders for path to resolution.

  • Applies and integrates foundational analysis techniques, workforce metrics, and reporting to develop strategic and operational insights for workforce decision-making.

  • Utilizes knowledge of multiple data structures and sources to support the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions, which may include data collection, data transformation, business intelligence, or data visualization.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

  • Up to 2 years of related experience conducting financial/accounting research and producing reports.

  • Foundational knowledge of data analysis and relevant technical accounting/finance acumen.

  • Foundational or educational level of business acumen in the areas of the business operations and industry practices.

  • Effective written, communication, presentation and computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience presenting and explaining information in a simple and user-friendly way.

  • Collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to flex to support broader business teams, as needed.

  • Solid analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and planning skills.

What sets you apart:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, computer science statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, science and engineering, or other similar quantitative discipline. Master’s degree is strongly preferred but not required. Our 2027 cohort begins July 12, 2027.

  • Graduation date must be prior to July 12, 2027.

  • Up to 2 years of experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, information technology, business analysis, and reporting.

  • Foundational experience in one or more dynamic scripted language (Python, R, etc.) and database query language (such as SQL, HQL, NoSQL, etc.) for performing data manipulation tasks, statistical analyses and/or building and scoring AI/ML models.

  • Knowledge and/or awareness of business intelligence and data management platforms (Tableau, Business Objects, Sigma, Snowflake, etc).

  • Experience with or interest in using AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, generate business insights, improve reporting, and support finance and business decision-making.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $51,370.00 - $92,060.00

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
