The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Talent Acquisition to work remotely while supporting and reporting into our San Antonio, Texas headquarters.
As a dedicated Director, Talent Acquisition, you will provide operational excellence direction across all areas of recruitment including processes, technology, training, compliance, and continuous improvement activities to enhance candidate experience. Develop and manage staffing programs, projects, operational plans, and goals to align staffing and resources with USAA strategic and operational objectives. Lead the implementation and maintenance of USAA's Talent program roadmap.
This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.
What you'll do:
Leads comprehensive project roadmap/portfolio to identify and prioritize critical programs and enhancements to systems and software that have a positive impact on recruitment processes and user experience.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to assess business issues and develop executable plans to address program needs and/or drive the development of new recruiting programs and activities.
Leads continuous process improvement, lean methodologies, and the identification and implementation of standard practices to enhance the recruiting process and overall candidate experience.
Establish strategic partnerships with outside vendors and consultants to incorporate industry best practices, trends, processes, and products and services into current staffing program strategies.
Manages a team to establish performance expectations and provide feedback, coaching, and career counseling.
Serves as talent acquisition programs consultant to the enterprise, providing guidance, oversight, and communication on recruitment strategies.
Leads the design, development, and implementation of specific recruitment programs and initiatives, using various channels to enable the hiring plan.
Ensures recruiting programs are aligned with diversity attraction strategies and associated budgets.
Creates and oversees success measures and assesses the effectiveness of recruiting solutions to guide shared understanding and continuous improvement around talent pipelines, funnel, and key performance indicators.
Partners internally with talent acquisition leadership to advance and optimize processes and daily operations to include utilization of resources, tools, and technology in alignment with service delivery metrics, methodologies, and procedures to achieve short- and long-term talent strategies.
Ensures process documentation, workflows, and key measures are recorded, optimized across the TA function, and meet business needs.
Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
8 years of relevant experience in staffing/recruiting, consulting, analysis, or business operations management, and advanced knowledge of relevant employment laws.
3 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and developing teams.
Demonstrated experience assessing business needs while developing and executing HR strategies, programs, and tools that enable achievement of business objectives.
Demonstrated ability to manage the core operational processes for the TA team and ensure hiring success by building and delivering processes, tools, and systems to support the recruiting team, hiring managers, and candidates.
Proven experience using analysis, organizational trends, competitive intelligence, and benchmarked industry practices to understand talent shifts.
What sets you apart:
Advanced experience leading and developing recruiting teams, with a demonstrated record of achieving or exceeding large‑scale hiring targets—preferably within a financial services environment.
Demonstrated experience in forecasting hiring demand, setting and tracking team goals, analyzing funnel and performance metrics, and implementing data‑based improvements that increase effectiveness.
Deep proficiency in recruiting operations, funnel analytics, and performance enablement, including mentoring recruiters through data insights that drive measurable skill development.
Experience overseeing and optimizing relationships with internal staffing partners to ensure cost‑effective and scalable support for hiring needs.
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310 - $243,340

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
