The Opportunity

The Executive oversees and leads the development of a product segmentation strategy for Alliance Services. This includes managing the P&L for multiple, complex, Alliance and internal relationships and high-value products, ensuring business plan expectations are achieved with additional focus on expense management and end-to-end customer experience. Directly responsible for leading significant growth in one of USAA’s most important portfolios that drives free member value. Works collaboratively with Enterprise stakeholders to deliver industry leading products that support and advance the business model, drive strong Member benefit, and drives profitability for Alliance Service Company.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX.

Relocation assistance is available for this position.

Tasks:

  • Oversee management of the product portfolio (feature/functionality) for appropriateness of financials, marketing strategy, market competitiveness, Member Experience, regulatory compliance, risk management, as well as efficiency of operation and technology delivery.

  • Drives and manages effective delivery of sales support to all distribution channels ensuring that products(s) are properly positioned to customers (sales tool and collateral development, sales training, etc.).

  • Establishes a business model based on fundamental drivers and following the data, maximizing efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the goals can be ambiguous and the process fluid.

  • Leads the development and implementation of an effective segmentation strategy and manages the growth plan of products including product profitability, service standards, and lifecycle management.

  • Manages 3rd Party Relationships (IT, 3rd products, and alliances).

  • Oversees and ensures risk assessments are completed for business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the best interest of the company, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Stays abreast of industry standards and benchmark data and serves as the subject matter expert of the competitive landscape across product verticals.

  • Develops strong interactions and communications to report on the health and overall status of the product portfolio and provides to senior and executive leadership team, and external partners, as applicable.

  • Drives the identification and prioritization of innovative products by optimizing product mix and leveraging segmentation to drive either profit, Member satisfaction, and/or retention.

  • Leads a team to deliver growth and profit plan while Influencing strategy and guide team alignment Provide guidance and oversight to marketing strategies.

  • Consistently optimize performance and member experience. Leading a team to manage current products through the product lifecycle.

  • Role models USAA’s mission, core values, culture, and desired behaviors include a sound risk and compliance culture.

  • Builds and oversees a team of professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 10 or more years of Financial Services, P&C Insurance, or alliance management experience, or a combination of the three, managing the product/platform life cycle as a Product Management, Digital Transformation, Data Science, or Visualization leader within the Financial Services industry.

  • 6 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Deep understanding of product P&L and high level of fluency in member value and ROI drivers with demonstrated track record in balancing product priorities against budget and timelines, driving execution with a sense of urgency, entrepreneurial spirit, and excitement for developing products from an early stage.

  • Expert analytical skills with experience leveraging diverse types of data to form hypotheses, test hypotheses, and build a recommended strategy.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering an overall product strategy that balances industry and competitive dynamics, customer insights, and commercial implications.

  • Experience managing the P&L, leading the overall product strategy, developing, and executing the product roadmap and achieving all related business goals (product line growth, ROI), for a designated product or group of products.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management best practices, to include identification, resolution, and implementation of risk mitigation solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to influence without authority, working on/with technical and cross-functional or highly matrixed teams who do not report into this role to get things done.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience with performance marketing (ROI, acquisition, conversion), content/influencer strategies, multi-channel GTM plans, and budget management.

  • Knowledge in managing or developing member discount programs and partnerships, understanding retail operations to leverage them for member benefit and company growth.

  • Experience identifying and integrating new retailers/brands to expand savings, experience with e-commerce platforms, and maximizing member engagement.

  • Military service experience

  • Possesses experience with advertising regulations and laws relevant to financial services institutions, including filing marketing communications with external regulations.

  • Ability to create and utilizes product/service strategies to leverage placement (distribution) principles for business growth, optimizes marketing campaigns assessing ROI/KPIs.

Salary: The salary range for this position is: $195,230-$351,410.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
