The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director, Bank Agile Product Management, you will lead a team who is responsible for delivering solutions for Bank product(s) using Agile methodologies that will enable the business to achieve business results and customer value. The person in this role partners with and engages senior leaders/collaborators to ensure product being delivered is aligned to the Bank’s objectives and the overall business strategy. They will apply strong business and/or technical savvy to enable the team(s) within the Bank to achieve their goals. The role makes funding allocation decisions to drive end-user value and ensures all work is completed within all regulatory and compliance policies and processes.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, and Charlotte, NC.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Lead agile teams assigned to developing solutions for implementing the Bank’s business objectives aligned to the department and company strategy. 

  • Responsible for creating and implementing policies and processes for delivering agile methodologies that will meet business results and are aligned to strategic business objectives and required outcomes. Accountable for Team-of-Teams level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), as well as team-level OKRs; empowers teams within the Bank to deliver business outcomes against their OKRs.

  • Manage project assignments and prioritize work for Agile teams.  Oversee deliverables to ensure they are progressing in a timely manner and are aligned to objectives.  Make data driven decisions as needed related to funding and resource allocation.

  • Lead positive team dynamics, encourage collaboration and drive achievement of goals and OKRs.  Ensure that assigned Bank projects are completed within financial regulatory and compliance policies and that risk issues identified are mitigated as required.

  • Apply expert knowledge and remove escalated impediments to the team’s success and assist in conflict resolution, issue and dependency management.

  • Coordinate, coach, support and guide leaders and teams in Agile principles, values and practices.

  • Proactively communicate project status updates to all stakeholders, including senior leadership. Build consensus with alliances across the organization.

  • Assess, utilize, and partner with external resources and partners to meet agreed upon expectations.

  • Share information about the portfolio’s output and direction with other Team of Team Leads and stakeholders to ensure alignment across the organization.

  • Build and oversee a team dedicated to excellence through recruiting, developing, retaining, coaching, guiding, performance management and managerial activities.

  • Has full management responsibility for some members of the Agile team, e.g., Product Owner from their own business area, including responsibilities for hiring, firing, development and providing input on compensation decisions. ​

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in product development, process improvement, project delivery, or business/requirements analysis to include 2 years of that experience within a financial services organization.

  • Minimum 3 years’ direct team leadership experience or leading large matrixed, cross-functional teams.  

  • Experience in marketing, strategy, digital, process, or user experience design within a financial organization.

  • Agile Scrum best practices and experienced being a product owner for a scrum team

  • Knowledge and experience of multiple technical software delivery methodologies such as Agile, and SAFe. 

  • Experience analyzing business requirements, process flows and use cases to identify opportunities to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in analyzing business requirements to drive decisions and streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.

  • Comprehensive experience in applicable banking regulatory and compliance policies. ​

What sets you apart:

  • 3 years’ dynamic product management experience within the Financial Services industry, with a focus on digital transformation and automation initiatives.

  • 3 years of experience leading large-scale programs to include strategy, risk identification and road mapping.

  • Current or recent experience leading others in a medium to large sized regional or national financial services institution to include budget, resource planning, expense management responsibilities.

  • Extensive Experience in Deposit Products: Proven track record and deep understanding of deposit products, including their acquisition, servicing, and related processes.

  • Agile and Project Management Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in leading teams and projects using Agile methodologies, with a strong ability to manage backlogs, prioritize features, and drive successful delivery.

  • Proactive and Collaborative Team Player: Thrives in a dynamic team environment, proactively manages responsibilities, and builds strong connections through shared functional expertise and a passion for their work.

  • Proven People Leadership: Experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320.00 - $265,950.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
