The Opportunity

As a dedicated Lead strategy professional with strong analytical abilities you get to work in USAA’s Enterprise AI Center of Excellence. You will develop and communicate our AI strategy, operational roadmap, executive communications; support model management and adherence to model governance, including development and delivery of data science governance documentation; ensure strong reporting and financial management; optimize our Enterprise vendor data environment and spend. The role will interface directly with our senior data and analytics leaders and will routinely require communicating and presenting to large audiences of senior leaders independently. This is a great opportunity for a strategist to tell our Enterprise AI program story and impact our approach to the enablement and scaling of Generative AI at USAA.

Conducts and develops quantitative and analytic models, assessments and/or applications in Treasury operations, capital markets, forecasting/monitoring, scenario planning and financial risk management. Leads and executes complex initiatives and cross functional teams across the Enterprise.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Develops metrics and decision frameworks to achieve key business objectives

  • Applies specialized analytical knowledge to assess future risks and/or new risks, opportunities, and effectiveness.

  • Translates results into meaningful solutions to enhance strategic decision making. Presents findings to senior level leadership.

  • Develops complex systems and programs that measure aggregate risk exposures.

  • Develops quantitative financial or economic models and performs model validations and presents results to senior leadership.

  • Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives and lead change.

  • Translates highly analytical recommendations into comprehensible communication materials to effectively present to senior leadership.

  • Provides subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations within the business.

  • Produces advanced analytical material to lead discussions with cross functional teams and senior leadership to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.

  • Drives and creates cross functional teams in support of initiatives that have significant impact to the enterprise or a core business area.

  • Provides direction and mentorship to other team members in the peer review process.

  • Expertly communicates analytical results, findings and solutions to governance committees and business process owners and influences business analysis.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years of related quantitative analysis experience to include statistical analysis, modeling, engineering, mathematics, business or other quantitative field; OR advanced degree/designation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative field and 6 years work experience in a quantitative field relevant to risk management; OR PhD in Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field and up to 4 years work experience in a quantitative field relevant to risk management.

  • 6 years experience working with complex analytical tools and data.

  • 2 years experience producing and presenting complex data related to strategic business activities.

  • Experience gathering and leading cross-functional teams to produce an effective business outcome.

  • Experience mentor and leading team members related to quantitative analysis and communications.

What sets you apart:

  • External strategy / management consulting experience

  • Expertise in insight synthesis and storytelling with limited oversight or guidance

  • Understanding of the landscape of current AI / Generative AI technologies

  • Model development and / or model governance experience.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $164,780 - $314,960.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
