The Opportunity
As a dedicated Instructional Developer Senior, you will partner with L&D Leaders, the business, learning performance consultants, instructional designers and assigned L&D staff to and validate technical learning requirements. Under strict timelines, develops complex learning interactive, online content applying varies instructional theories and principles. Assesses the learning outcomes to be developed, understands the performance expectations and gaps, and assists in deriving the appropriate learning solution.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.
This position can be based in the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Tampa, FL, Plano, TX, Colorado Springs, CO or Chesapeake, VA.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Connects with learning communities (internal and external to USAA) to learn and stay informed of new ways to build digital assets that enable agile, lean, and flexible development methods and techniques. Informs team and continually works to improve digital offerings that attract and appeal to learning in the moment, learning an aspect of a new job, or a new aspect of a current job.
Develops and maintains the Instructional Development Technical Standards & Guidelines and communicates updates to the team.
Oversees the authoring and development of interactive digital learning assets incorporating video, media, games, simulations, animations, graphic/visual design (UI, UX), as appropriate, to engage, challenge, and positively influence the learner experience and improve learning outcomes.
Continuously identifies enhancements, improvements, fixes to the development and implementation of engaging system and conversation simulations/emulations using USAA approved tool sets.
Evaluates and identifies the gaps from one Learning Management System to another, recommends a solution for filling the gaps, to include identifying an alternative approach.
Ensures that all graphics for digital applications adhere to USAA branding guidelines and meets customer needs.
Designs and develops high-level intermediate to complex technology-related training content.
Partners with L&D staff and Leaders to establish production ratios for the development of digital learning deliverables based on complexity and requirements in a rapid, agile manner.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience, in addition to the minimum years of experience required, may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
6 years progressive experience in instructional design and development to include taking complex learning topics and writing content/developing graphics to make them consumable and easy to understand.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills, project management skills, multitasking and flexibility.
Demonstrated advanced experience using Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud (Audition, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premier Pro, After Effects, Illustrator), and similar tools.
Solid understanding of learning management systems (LMS) and how they host, distribute, track, and report learning solutions.
Proficient knowledge and skill utilizing learning and development technologies with the ability to transfer knowledge and quickly learn new technology.
What sets you apart:
2 years of experience adjusting or managing Claims within Guidewire.
2 years of experience programming within digital adoption tools to include WhatFix or Walkme.
2 years of experience adjusting and/or leading in a P&C Claims environment.
U.S. military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $85,040 - $162,550.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
