The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director, Product Management, you will lead the strategy, performance, and lifecycle management of a portfolio of bank products, ensuring offerings deliver strong member value, sustainable financial performance and regulatory compliance. You will oversee a team responsible for product strategy, roadmap execution, and performance optimization, using market insights, analytics, and member feedback to inform decisions. Partners across the organization define product vision, prioritize investments, and deliver solutions aligned to business strategy, risk appetite, and member needs. Additionally, you will drive continuous product improvement while building organizational capability in data-driven product management and agile delivery practices.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development and execution of a multi‑year product strategy roadmap by analyzing market dynamics, identifying opportunities and competitive threats, and prioritizing innovation aligned with company goals and member needs.

  • Identify market opportunities, competitive threats, and innovation priorities.

  • Oversee full product lifecycle including design, launch, optimization, and retirement decisions.

  • Lead prioritization of enhancements, features, and investments using data, financial analysis, and member insights.

  • In partnership with marketing and distribution teams, lead go-to-market strategy and cross-functional alignment to ensure compelling product value propositions and strong product adoption across the bank.

  • Use performance metrics, financial modeling, and market intelligence to inform strategic decisions.  

  • Establish measurable success criteria and monitors portfolio health; Interprets performance results to inform product or sales forecast and planning.

  • Ensure insights, research, and analysis are productive and evaluate performance metrics to drive recommendations for market opportunities or product enhancements.

  • Build strong partnerships across technology, operations, marketing, finance, and risk.

  • Leads product innovation while ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.

  • Develop recommendations to launch new products and the evaluation and decision to buy/build or partner.

  • Coordinate with relevant control partners (including Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed, implemented and managed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Build and oversee a team of product professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.    ​

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Sales and Service, Finance/Accounting Operations or Financial Services. 

  • Minimum 4 years’ product management, portfolio leadership, or similar strategic management experience (similar experience includes direct support in managing product performance).

  • Minimum 3 years’ direct team leader or management experience.

  • Experience leveraging data visualization tools and providing requirements to data teams (i.e., Tableau)

  • Experience in creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership.

  • Experience managing product performance, roadmap planning, and go-to-market execution.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a regulated environment

  • Experienced in market research to create product roadmap, make product decisions and iterate rapidly.

  • Knowledge of applicable Banking-industry laws, regulations, risk, and compliance requirements. ​

What sets you apart:

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to enhance member experience throughout the mortgage lending lifecycle, from initial application through to loan servicing, including proficiency with digital platforms, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and document management/upload processes.

  • Proven ability to drive product strategy and execution with customer/member focused solutions

  • Demonstrated strong people leadership (direct or matrixed) and a proven ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders across all levels

  • Experience in executive-level communication and strategic influence, effectively presenting product vision, roadmaps and business cases to senior leadership.

  • Deep expertise in mortgage, banking and/or financial services with track record of success

  • Master the art of backlog prioritization and effective agile execution within a Scaled Agile environment

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320.00 - $273,930.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
