The Opportunity
As a dedicated Corporate Impact Director, you will oversee corporate citizenship programs and initiatives that enable USAA to lead and inspire actions that improve lives in the military and local community. Responsible for the development of critical programs, initiatives and third-party alliances that drive significant, measurable societal impact in relation to defined Corporate Impact (CI) goals and objectives. Utilizes exceptional CI acumen and critical-thinking skills and effectively leverages USAA research as well as third-party research to develop a deep understanding of their designated CI strategic focus area(s). Represents the USAA brand in high-profile venues with humility and expertly builds, cultivates, and maintains highly productive relationships both internally and externally. The CI Director oversees a philanthropic investment budget, strategic functional leadership, core process design and prioritization methodology, engages with a CI advisory group, manages the CI alliance lifecycle, develops Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with key local and national nonprofit organizations, contributes to a high-performance CI team and is accountable for achieving results related to their designated CI strategy area(s).
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Owns and executes civic engagement strategies, nationally and in our regional office locations through the development of multiple highly complex and visible programs and strategies which includes initiatives involving third party alliances and key internal stakeholders.
- Contributes to a high-performance CI team and is accountable for achieving results related to departmental goals and objectives.
- Ensures strategy area(s) have Logic Model(s) with defined Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs), in alignment with CI Working Groups and CI Executive Leadership.
- Oversees philanthropic grantmaking in alignment with grantmaking policies and standards.
- Leads the development of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manages relationships with a portfolio of nonprofit alliances.
- Leads the assessment of all programs, grants, and nonprofit activities to ensure appropriate due diligence has been conducted and Alliances /Third Party Vendors meet minimum requirements.
- Develops measurement metrics and standards to evaluate impact and effectiveness of CI investments and operations.
- Convenes with key alliances periodically (virtually) to discuss critical needs, common KPIs, impact, and opportunities for collaboration within strategy areas.
- Drives USAA and third-party research to develop and integrate a subject matter expertise in CI strategic focus areas and enterprise programs. Leads collaboration with survey firms to shape and inform research strategies.
- Cultivates and manages relationships with key local, national community and non-profit organizations to reinforce USAA's brand and proactively build reputation.
- Ensures routine and effective communication is maintained with key contacts to foster highly productive relationships. In partnership with CI engagement lead, develops and/or coordinates enterprise-wide communications. Leverages technology and social media as tools to strengthen enterprise CI engagement.
- Expertly manages a philanthropic investment or assigned budget and resources related to their designated CI strategy area(s) or program; achieves results through self-prioritization.
- Works across enterprise to lead, establish, and revise Corporate Impact policies.
- Leads purposeful collaboration with enterprise partners and operates within defined CI governance process and protocol; navigates the organization with expertise and high degree of credibility with key stakeholders.
- Contributes to a high-performance CI team and is accountable for achieving results related to departmental goals and objectives; expertly demonstrates how their decision making and execution is measured in CI performance dashboard and reporting.
- Leads Disciplined Execution or process improvement initiatives with measurable improvements in efficiency and/or effectiveness. Owns and proactively manages risk and compliance of assigned process. Takes lead in AARs for key initiatives and applies learnings to ensure continuous improvement.
- Contributes to external reporting by developing compelling content for designates strategy area(s) and contribute alliance stories; provides content, serve as SME for internal/external communications, focusing on impact and storytelling for designated strategy area(s).
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business related disciplines (i.e., Business, Marketing, Economics, etc.) or Public Relations, Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years of experience in business development, product development, business operations or philanthropic leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex assignments to highly successful and sustainable outcomes.
- Proven track record of translating an organizational vision to reality, business acumen and process excellence.
- Experience managing third-party relationships that are accountable for results and producing high-quality outcomes.
- Expert experience developing and delivering various, detail-oriented types of communications to senior leadership.
- Extensive experience applying transformation and change management skills in corporate responsibility initiative.
- Demonstrated track record contributing to CI reporting and corporate citizenship storytelling/cause marketing.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
- Required travel up to 25%.
What sets you apart:
- Master’s degree or accredited professional certification in a relevant field.
- Experience working in a financial services line of business role at a large corporation. (example: P&C Insurance, Bank, Life Insurance)
- High-Impact relationship builder with proven ability to both engage and influence senior leaders and engage/impact a large employee base.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively across various departments within a corporate ecosystem, understanding their impact on the work.
- Ability to create strategy and drive successful execution through measurement of KPI’s.
- Analytical mindset with ability to derive insights and translate them into practical action plans.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310 - $243,340.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
