The Opportunity
We are seeking a Military Affairs Representative I – Marine Corps with extensive staff and leadership experience at a major military command or higher headquarters. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of military leadership structures and installation functions, as well as active-duty Air Force and Air Force Reserve Forces programs. This position requires the ability to work weekends and long hours, with at least 120 days of travel per year. Additionally, candidates should have experience in military community engagement, program development, and advocacy.
This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be encouraged to work on-site four days per week.
What you'll do:
- Meets with military installation senior leadership to build relationships and develop business opportunity events in support of military members and their families.
- Uses and applies broad knowledge of USAA's full range of business products, services and business process and programs available to improve relationships with leaders, members and prospects.
- Serves as a resource to peers and team member including leading and training cross functional teams in the execution of face-to-face marketing and informational events.
- Identifies and understands the intended goals of Military Affairs and USAA.
- Works as a military expert with USAA lines of business and staff agencies when access to military installations is required or when military expertise is crucial to project success.
- Deepens existing relationships with senior military leaders to optimize business opportunities on and off military installations.
- Analyzes, identifies trends, and makes recommendations regarding market segments and effective resource utilization.
- Collaborates with management and marketing to develop initiatives and programs to reach members and prospects.
- Plans and negotiates installation marketing agreement as part of the installation marketing plan and strategy; this includes marketing tactics, placement, and timely and relevant messaging.
- Assist in leading installation marketing currency, creative rotation, and replacement.
- Analyze past campaign performance and adjust approach as needed to attain Marketing agreement success/return on objectives.
- Schedules and conducts Military Acumen Visits for USAA Leaders.
- Participates as an authority on enterprise wide teams.
- Provides Military 101 training at New Employee Orientation and provides USAA Financial Readiness Training to ROTC Units and the military community.
- Audits Military communications developed by the enterprise for employee education to ensure accuracy and USAA mission relevancy.
- Represents all USAA lines of business and their products and services.
- Dialogues with members and provides feedback to senior management on issues, accolades and competitive intelligence.
- Runs assigned program expenses within annual budget.
- Contributes to employee understanding of critical aspects of military life and culture.
- Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 4 or more years of experience engaging the military community.
- Possession of Military ID card required.
- Understanding of tactical, operational and planning, understanding of program development and project tracking, and ability to develop and understand business metrics.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and other software to develop analyses, charts and supporting documentation.
- Meets and maintains all USAA safety driving requirements.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920 - $133,620.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
