The Opportunity

As a dedicated Director, Strategic Account Relationship Manager for Claims Optimization, you will develop, manage, grow, and nurture, relationships between USAA and external strategic suppliers. These objectives include onboarding and operational support of strategic partner relationships, ability to identify opportunities for growth, and overall build strong relationship with key strategic partners including internal affiliates.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for oversight of business requirements and controls over execution between USAA, suppliers and internal affiliates for existing and new products and services; to include, but not limited to, third party contracting and risk management practices and processes.
  • Ensures proper representation of USAA’s brand and value proposition in the external marketplace.
  • Works with strategic account partner leadership to develop business plans to deliver on shared objectives and financial goals to grow revenue and external market share for USAA.
  • Influences and directs activities of the relationship management team to effectively partner with internal business teams and functional areas of the strategic supplier relationships.
  • Identifies opportunities to document and facilitate improvements to processes. Develops functional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Accountable for team partnering with internal control groups to manage operational controls and oversight of the strategic account to ensure adherence to appropriate risk and compliance controls.
  • Maintains extensive working knowledge of industry trends and each partner including strategic initiatives, to expand and deepen relationships.
  • Responsible for new account implementation and business development with partners.
  • Supports Third-Party relationship management and governance requirements which may include, but is not limited to, ensuring plans, operations, and governance meet, or exceed regulatory obligations and policies and ensuring training is in place for a successful implementation of projects affecting the operations.
  • May have leadership responsibilities over internal and external development of capabilities between USAA, suppliers.
  •  Responsibilities may include defining requirements and implementing operational and technology development and execution plans with suppliers.
  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of experience in supplier relationship management, to include supplier governance, procurement, and/or supply chain management experience.
  • 3 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high performing teams.
  • Subject matter expert knowledge and experience with applicable industry and products for the assigned functional area.
  • Proven experience identifying and maintaining relationships with interna/external stakeholders to ensure understanding of current and future business needs, to include knowledge and application of applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing business plans.
  • Expert Data Analysis abilities.
  • Extensive relationship management skills and demonstrated ability to influence decisions at all leadership levels.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and prioritization skills.
  • Travel may be required.

What sets you apart:

  • P&C Operational experience, industry knowledge of contract requirements and experience with oversight of large 3rd party portfolios.
  • Experience with vendor/supplier oversight to ensure contract adherence and expected quality outcomes.
  • Experience with establishing and driving vendor technology strategies and efficiencies.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310.00 - $243,340.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
