The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role on the Talent Leadership Team, reporting to the VP of Talent Management and Development. The AVP, Workforce of the Future will design and implement innovative talent management strategies that address needs of the business and identify and grow the critical skills and talent who ultimately deliver on our mission. This executive will partner with our strategy and transformation teams across the business and optimize an operating model that delivers future-focused talent programs and services that benefit both the business and employees.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position is based in San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Responsible for establishing the strategy and direction for an effective talent operating model that engages HR and business stakeholder groups to drive effectiveness through workforce plans, organizational design/effectiveness, and critical skills
Responsible for establishing programs and practices to identify, develop, and deploy the critical skills and talent needed for each Line of Business and Staff Agency’s future workforce
Develops tailored talent strategies and new skilling initiatives aligned to business objectives and implements processes to monitor and measure the effectiveness of programs and initiatives
Accountable for providing strategic oversight of key talent, workforce, and skills technologies to enable and enhance talent systems, planning, and delivery
Utilizes data and predictive analytics to inform talent strategies, optimize initiatives, and proactively address emerging workforce challenges by anticipating workforce shifts in the financial services industry
Leads the design and implementation of data collection and assessment frameworks to identify and bridge future skills gaps for the business and employees
Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures
What you have:
Bachelor’s Degree; 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree
10 years of progressive experience in talent management, Organizational Development/Organizational Effectiveness, Learning, or other related HR function leading large-scale talent initiatives, and delivering results within a complex, matrixed environment
6 years of people leadership experience building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams
Experience analyzing workforce data, identifying skill gaps, and designing effective strategies to address gaps
Strong understanding of workforce planning and management and delivering talent programs aligned to business strategies
Familiarity with talent tools and platforms used to analyze skills and develop talent strategies
Demonstrated experience assessing and decisioning on innovative technology solutions fit for the organization
Experience working with, influencing, and communicating effectively with C-Suite leaders and various stakeholders
What sets you apart:
Proven ability to drive large scale organizational transformation through effective change management
Substantive experience across organizational design and effectiveness, upskilling, talent strategy, and strategic workforce planning to include analysis of current workforce, identification of skill gaps, and design of effective strategies to address gaps within a highly complex, matrixed environment
Experience developing skills-based performance management metrics and processes
Demonstrated ability and passion for building, developing, and enhancing teams of HR professionals
US military appreciation or experience through military service, support, or a military spouse/domestic partner
Salary: The salary range for this position is $195,230 $351,410.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
