The Opportunity

Plans and executes activities and projects that directly support the implementation and optimization of Bank’s go-to-market resources as part of the business plan. Responsible for enabling Bank Lines of Businesses (Credit Card, Deposits, Consumer Lending and Real Estate) to achieve marketing and business goals. Identify resources and skills necessary to support the channel strategy and achieve product sales in the most productive manner. Researches and selects the appropriate mix of distribution channels designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of an organization’s coverage in the marketplace and optimize its go-to-market resources. Adopts new technology and develops go-to- market, best practice implementation plans, and channel marketing support plans. Responsible for paid media audits, marketing activities controls (PRCI/RCSA), marketing-wide contract, and third-party management to include affiliate. Additionally, this position will oversee complaints monitoring and Bank marketing exams. Develops recommendations and plans and ensures they are executed. Monitors results via business plan assessment and through implementing changes to plans to drive desired results. Identifies new/emerging channels, resources and intermediaries and develops integrated strategies, plans and programs to leverage these opportunities.


This position will be accountable for driving vision and long-term strategic needs of Bank marketing operations, technology capabilities, integrated road map, risk/governance, channels and optimization to ensure relevancy of USAA in the marketplace. Additionally, the position will be responsible for the vision, transformation for driving strategic marketing imperatives and maximizing value through technology tools, processes, personnel and risk management that permit the association to drive growth and deliver frictionless experiences that align with USAA’s mission. 

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and communicate the USAA Bank’s marketing vision and strategy, ensuring it enables broader marketing and business goals of the Brand, Marketing and Member teams to include Marketing technology of USAA Bank.

  • Drive excellence in the planning, execution, management and optimization of marketing campaigns across Marketing LOB and Member channels (ex. Email, Direct Mail, Inbound, Paid Media/Social Affiliates) that include driving channel strategy and agency partners, ensuring they meet established benchmarks and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize marketing processes, such as contracting, controls, content review & approvals, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Optimize the integration and management of marketing technology and tools to enhance execution capabilities. This position will have oversight and leadership of significant strategic investment and implementation of marketing technology suite.

  • Identify, communicate, and action marketing opportunities to better serve internal customers and drive efficiencies.

  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure marketing services which entails managing partner relationships, assessing and recommending new capabilities, upskilling media managers, and standardization of marketing tools are meeting or exceeding needs of Brand, LOB Marketing, Member & CoE. 

  • Achieve efficient funnel conversion with Digital, LOB Marketing, and Member teams.

  • Lead the partnership with Brand, LOB Marketing, Member, and Data & Analytics to ensure marketing technical builds are delivered on time and align with LOB Marketing and Member pillar needs and objectives.

  • Builds and oversees a team of professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedure

What you have:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of exper ence required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 10 or more years of progressive related experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment required.

  • 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high performing teams required.

  • Experience with leading large-scale projects, collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.

  • Experience in managing and overseeing the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.

What sets you apart:

  • Deep and well-rounded experience successfully driving a comprehensive marketing tech stack at large company, leveraging data and martech platforms to modernize and automate processes and enable speed to market.

  • Related experience in marketing, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a regulated industry (financial services preferred).

  • Proven track record of building a marketing performance focused data and tech marketers to deliver innovative marketing strategies

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, marketing industry practices and emerging trends

  • 3 years+ of exposure to and working with Marketing Technology Vendor or products to enable compliant and automated Marketing capabilities.

Salary: The salary range for this position is: $195,230-$351,410

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
