The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst II to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 25-3 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find meaningful employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are best-in-class workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.
As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program, Fellows are authorized to work remotely. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX,
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Applies maturing industry and accounting knowledge in the end-to-end preparation and delivery of moderately complex regulatory reporting requirements.
- Performs detailed peer review of reports in addition to audited statements and support schedules in preparation for final review by management.
- Researches and provides recommendations regarding changes to reports as assigned, including new line items and updated instructions. Resolve issues and identifies appropriate issues for partner concern.
- Assists with audits, examinations, and ad-hoc surveys by coordinating receipt of support from business partners and preparation of supporting work papers and schedules.
- Responsible for internal controls to ensure accurate referencing for peer and management review documentation over owned reports and assignments.
- May assist in the preparation of responses to special surveys and data calls from state and regulatory bodies.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree required; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 2 years of Bank Holding Company reporting or relevant work experience to include regulatory or management reporting
- Advanced knowledge of applicable Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- 1 year of experience conducting research and preparing business and operational financial analysis.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Experience working in cross functional data or financial projects across multiple business units
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
- Experience with preparing, analyzing, and presenting analytical reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with business partners and teammates
Compensation range: Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program. If selected for a full-time role, the salary range for this position is: $63,590 - $121,530
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
