The Opportunity
As a designated Facilities Engineer I, with Mechanical Engineer background, you will be responsible for continuous oversight and maintenance of a structural, mechanical, electrical, infrastructure or control system(s). Solves problems assigned systems, identifies issues and conducts or assigns repairs. Knowledgeable with the design and operation of building systems, specification writing, and project management. Uses technical familiarity with facility related initiatives for Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Infrastructure, or Structural issues to develop solutions. Collaborates with Project Managers and Facility Managers of various subject areas to provide technical expertise to complete projects, maintenance or repairs.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in San Antonio, TX with occasional travel to Regional Offices (Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC, Colorado Springs, CO, Tampa, FL, Chesapeake, VA).
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Identifies and handles existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Responsible for technical expertise to manage at least two critical engineering/building systems disciplines and resolve complex facilities issues. Solves problems/identifies issues, plans and conducts repairs within scheduled timeline
- Makes recommendations to leadership on the design, development and management of programs and projects for mechanical, electrical strategies and water conservation.
- Maintains knowledge across multiple building systems to ensure projects meet stated desired outcomes.
- Occasionally leads fact-finding efforts and applies innovative analysis of complex building operational engineering initiatives and makes recommendations to management.
- Performs facility condition assessments and makes recommendations to management. Contributes to facilities annual work planning (FAWP).
- Monitors and evaluates technical aspects of compliance, risk and Third- Party supplier performance; provides guidance to USAA Service Delivery Evaluation Process.
- Serves as a resource to team members and provides guidance on resolving issues and/or partner concerns.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required, (8 years total without degree) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 4 years of experience in Facility Engineering.
- Strong understanding of Building Automation Systems.
- Experience in Project Management (plan, execute and monitor projects).
- Experience with designing and reviewing facilities design documents.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of facilities policies, standards, procedures, and detailed design documents.
- Solid understanding of laws and regs (i.e., Hazardous Materials Regulation, OSHA, etc.).
- Must be able to climb a ladder and walk a construction site.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Products.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $85,040.00 - $153,080.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
