The Opportunity
We are seeking a Risk and Compliance Advisor with Cloud Security, Cyber Threat Operations, Infrastructure & Network Security, and/or Insider Threat risk management experience. This role involves providing independent oversight and guidance within a risk and compliance framework to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and USAA’s policies. The ideal candidate will challenge and support the execution of business products, services, and processes through ongoing monitoring and reporting on business initiatives. Candidates must have at least 2 years of validated experience in the financial services or insurance industry, or technical fields directly related to the role.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Partners with key customers in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and detail operational and compliance risks and controls, including operational and compliance risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, laws, regulations, and third-party operations using maturing knowledge.
- Applies maturing knowledge of the business, its products, and processes, to identify, work, and raise operational risk and compliance issues.
- Collects information, analyzes data trends, and produces analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Supports processes that focus on improving strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report on operational and compliance risks.
- Supplies in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate current and emerging risk.
- Supports and implements processes to measure, monitor, and report on operational and compliance risks.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 2 years experience risk, compliance, legal or audit within the financial services or insurance industry or niche technical fields directly related to the role.
- Knowledge of risk and/or compliance management principles, tools, and applicable systems
- Awareness and ability to apply risk and compliance laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to work with internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
- Experience identifying potential concerns and recommending effective solutions.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
What sets you apart:
- Two or more year's experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure and network security, risk, or audit functions within the financial services or insurance industry or technical fields directly related to the role.
- Risk and Compliance industry certification or designations (CISSP, CRISC, CIAM, CIMP, CISA, CFE, or CAFS).
- Attention to detail, timeliness, communication and ability to present at all levels.
- Experience independently developing clear and concise written analysis and presenting conclusions / findings to leaders.
- Understanding of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-63, NIST-CSF, SOC2, GDPR, etc.
- Experience with platforms such as Splunk, Tanium, Qualys, CyberArk, Fusion, Okta, Azure Active Directory, Sailpoint, etc.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $63,590 - $121,530.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
