The Opportunity
We are seeking a Risk Analyst - I to join our dedicated AI Risk Management team. This role emphasizes governance, oversight, and compliance of the AI Risk Management program. The ideal candidate will possess a general understanding of risk management principles, a robust background in information security and technology, and a strong dedication to encouraging responsible and ethical AI practices. This position requires a strategic thinker capable of navigating the evolving AI landscape and its regulatory implications.
The role demands a minimum of one year of direct experience managing AI risks, including a firm grasp of emerging risks, ethical considerations, and relevant regulations. Candidates should have general knowledge of the model development lifecycle and proven experience (preferably 2+ years) in Information Security, Technology or Cyber. Additionally, experience in Data or Information Governance, coupled with experience in risk mitigation strategies, program/project management, and the ability to prioritize effectively to keep projects on schedule, are key requirements for this senior position.
This Risk Analyst will support the management of AI governance documents by monitoring first‑line alignment to the AI Risk Management Framework; assessing compliance with first- and second-line AI governance requirements (e.g., policies and standards); translating governance outcomes into actionable guidance; aggregating and reporting outcomes to committees and senior leadership; and calling out systemic or material AI risks for remediation.

What you'll do:
- Partners with key team members in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations.
- Communicates results of risk assessments to governance committees, business process owners and various levels of leadership.
- Contributes to the implementation of new risk policies, practices, appetites and solutions to ensure multidisciplinary understanding and management of risks according to industry standard process.
- Enhances strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
- Applies working knowledge to assess data and produce analytical insights to understand business objectives, drive risk-based business decisions and influence solution strategies.
- Contributes in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
- Provides oversight of risk through documentation review, assessment of performance monitoring, model validation, and use implementation
- Supports the formulation of scenario analysis and/or stress test plans, including the evaluation of results, and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key business partners.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 4 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area.
- Or advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other subject area relevant to risk management and 2 years work of experience in a field relevant to risk management.
- Knowledge of risk management principles, tools and applicable systems.
- Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment.
- Experience in conflict resolution management and ability to challenge at all levels of management and influence business outcomes.
- Ability to work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and decision-making abilities, to include the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows-up to resolve issues.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
What sets you apart:
- Governance Documentation Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting or authoring governance documents, policies, standards, or procedures for financial institutions with strong written communication skills.
- Second Line Oversight: Practical experience in Second Line oversight activities — monitoring first‑line compliance, conducting governance reviews, or escalating unresolved issues within an enterprise risk framework.
- Model Risk Management & Compliance: General knowledge of model risk management lifecycle and experience supporting governance/validation activities (experience with SR11‑7 is a plus).
- Information Security/Technology/Cyber Experience: Four or more years of demonstrated experience in Information Security, Technology, or Cyber, with practical understanding of security controls and their application to AI/Model deployments (experience with SOC 2 and NIST a plus).
- Data or Information Governance: Experience in Data or Information Governance indicating an understanding of data management, quality, and compliance requirements (experience with Privacy, GDPR or CCPA is preferred).
- Program/Project Management: Proficiency in program and project management methodologies, including planning, execution, and timeline management.
- Reporting & Risk Aggregation: Experience developing governance and compliance reporting for leadership and committees, synthesizing trends and metrics that inform risk escalation and remediation priorities.
- AI Risk Management: One or more years of direct experience in managing risks specific to Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI. This includes understanding emerging risks, ethical considerations, and the regulatory landscape surrounding AI.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $85,040 - $162,550.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
