The Opportunity
Join our dynamic Reinsurance Operations team in the Life Actuarial department as a Reinsurance Analyst II! This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting reinsurance processes, from claims processing and treaty administration to financial reporting and audit support. You'll be responsible for managing reinsurance risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with business partners to drive effective decision-making. Additionally, you may support reinsurance processes through one or more of the following activities: processes death claims, administers reinsurance, account reconciliations, audit support and coordination, reporting and analysis. Responsible for managing reinsurance risk, audit support, financial analysis and/or insurance-related statistical reporting. In addition, this role participates in the orchestration of activities to develop and complete business deliverables including developing and documenting project business requirements and translating those requirements into functional system specifications.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position is based in San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Utilize routine processes and procedures to administer reinsurance, process routine claims, validate data, files, systems, identify discrepancies, and related audit support.
- Support the development and maintenance of processes, procedures and tools.
- Resolve moderately complex issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
- Participate on special projects related to reinsurance administration systems, legal contracts/treaties, new product launches and other initiatives.
- Under minimal guidance, prepare reinsurance financial, management and regulatory reports.
- Interpret treaty details (premium calculation), final bid documents and applies maturing knowledge of Letter of Agreement (LOAs) or treaty drafts and validation of system rules.
- Administer retention to ensure compliance with company limits and reinsurance treaty specifications.
- Develop an understanding of regulations impacting the reinsurance process to ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Develop relationships with business partners (internal and external).
- Acquire and apply maturing knowledge of the business to resolve issues and provide informed, proactive reporting and analysis to enable effective decision making.
- Gather, research, and coordinate responses to audit requests in a timely manner, for internal and external audit, and reinsurance business partners.
- Partner with more experienced team members to complete reinsurer and compliance audit requests.
- Perform intermediate level accounting activities, reinsurance accounting transactions, analysis, reconciliations and research and understands key implications.
- Perform intermediate level reinsurance transactions, analysis, reconciliations and research with developing knowledge of GAAP/ STAT accounting and other regulatory requirements.
- Identify appropriate issues for escalation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements that further departmental goals and objectives.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 2 or more years of experience as an analyst or other relevant work experience.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $62,470 - $111,940.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
