The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a dedicated Business Support Analyst Intermediate to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 26-1 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find meaningful employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are best-in-class workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.
As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program, Fellows are authorized to work remotely. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in the following location: San Antonio. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
The Advocacy Support Specialist provides essential administrative, logistical, and research support to the military advocacy function, contributing to the team's overall efficiency and effectiveness. This role also serves as a developmental opportunity to build bench strength, providing exposure to various aspects of advocacy and policy work. This position will support the Director, Business and Strategy, in their efforts to develop and implement strategic plans for the military advocacy function.
What You'll Do:
- Provide administrative support to the advocacy team, including scheduling meetings, managing travel arrangements, and preparing expense reports.
- Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
- Conduct basic research and data analysis to support strategic planning and program evaluation efforts.
- Maintain and organize files and databases related to policy research, stakeholder contacts, and advocacy activities.
- Assist with the planning and execution of advocacy events, such as conferences, meetings, community outreach activities, and internal training sessions, managing logistics, communication, and budget.
- Assist with the management of the advocacy team's budget, primarily tracking expenses.
- Provide support to the team's relationship management efforts, assisting with stakeholder outreach and communication, primarily within USAA.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to build knowledge and skills in advocacy and policy work.
- Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall goals and objectives of the military advocacy function.
- Demonstrate competency in the Microsoft office suite.
What You Have:
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including: requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics, or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives and optimization of business operations.
- Proficient knowledge of a wide variety of systems coordination, process/product review initiatives and the development of management information requirements for related business functions.
- Knowledge of business operations and systems/business requirements processes.
- Knowledge of business analysis tools for ex: MS Visio MS Excel, Tableau, SQL.

Compensation range: Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program. If selected for a full-time role, the salary range for this position is: $69,920- $133,620.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
