The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Business Support Analyst Senior to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 25-3 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find meaningful employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are outstanding workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.
As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program, Fellows are authorized to work remotely. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Colorado Springs, CO. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
As a dedicated Business Support Analyst Senior, you will support the business by analyzing and evaluating relevant business data, information, metrics and processes to find opportunities and solutions to business plan development and optimization of business operations. Responsible for supporting key functions and providing recommendations to achieve current and future business strategy needs/objectives.
What you'll do:
- Develops and maintains an understanding of overall business functions with in-depth knowledge of specific areas/functions and related activities.
- Guides in development of business goals and objectives to exploit all distribution channels, leverage use of data, and simplify processes.
- Provides operational support on current processes and supports business operations and management in finding opportunities and solutions to meet current and future business needs.
- Validates information and works with other groups to include presentations of detailed findings, alternatives and recommended actions.
- Participates in the planning, research, analysis, development, and implementation of new and modifications to existing applications and processes to provide new or improved capabilities, products, and/or services.
- Maintains broad system knowledge, knows the latest on all system improvements, identifies training needs and implements plans.
- Maintains broad business knowledge, knows the latest on key business strategies & initiatives and finds opportunities for support and enablement.
- Assists with the documentation of new and revised departmental procedures.
- Captures information for processes, analyzes data and trends, identifies root causes, and develops work products.
- Serves as a resource to team members on called out issues of a routine nature.
- Reviews and analyzes reports and provides recommendations to improve matrix and reporting controls,
- Develops and analyzes additional ad-hoc reports as needed by Management and or Regulatory Agencies.
- Contributes on policies, standards, risk management and controls related to relevant processes.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree
- 6 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including: requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics, or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives and optimization of business operations.
- Knowledge in a wide variety of systems coordination, process/product review initiatives and the development of management information requirements for related business functions.
- Knowledge of business operations and systems/business requirements processes.
- Experience facilitating and driving collaboration to common understanding of business requirements and driving standard enterprise wide business processes.
- Knowledge of business analysis tools for ex: MS Visio MS Excel, Tableau, SQL.
What sets you apart:
- Current participant in the Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship Programs 25-3 or a current USAA contractor in the Non-Direct, HOH program.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint., to develop business work, including developing dashboards, and crafting senior executive-level MS PowerPoint presentations.
- Practiced communication skills (oral and written) with partners/executive leadership to provide effective data reporting and analysis to influence others within and outside your department.
- Experienced in expense management, budgeting, expense classifications by unit, CoSA, expense type
- Acute attention to detail in writing and editing, including language in procedures, knowledge-based articles, guidelines, and policies
- Proficient knowledge of data reporting/analysis tools and techniques, including Excel skills such as pivot tables, vlookup, graphs, charts to build presentable views to support analysis and conclusions
- Critical-thinking, problem-solving skills; identifying problems, and bringing innovative ways to teammates to address business needs and solutions
- Understanding of or experience with credit card payments processes
- Familiarity with USAA’s business travel and expense program
- Experience with data analysis, statistics, data management, analytics and/or data reporting, including a familiarity with reporting tools such as Tableau and Snowflake
- Understanding of compliance, risk management, issue management, and control development and execution.
- Ability and eagerness to build business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at the individual contributor, leadership, and EMG levels.
Compensation range: Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program. If selected for a full-time role, the salary range for this position is: $85,040 - $157,820
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
