Purpose of JobWe are currently seeking a talented Policy and Performance Underwriter I (P&C Commercial Lines) for the San Antonio Home Office I or 100% Remote Work Environment.
The ideal candidate possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and excitement to be a part of USAA’s new Small Business Insurance underwriting team.
Develops, implements, and maintains P&C Underwriting policies and processes to achieve enterprise priorities, ensuring compliance with state regulations. Partners with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain P&C Underwriting policies and products. Participates in the development and implementation of team initiatives.

Partner with the business, compliance, and risk areas to develop control plans and report on the results.
Contributes to strategies and communicates effectively with all key stakeholders.
Contributes in the development and cultivation of cross-functional business relationships with internal partners to collaborate on programs, guidelines and processes that meet regulatory requirements and align with USAA's strategic priorities and mission.
Point of contact for coordination of large scale initiatives that impact areas across the enterprise.
Provide direction and advice to less experienced employees who manage underwriting programs, guidelines and processes.
Contributes in encouraging an innovative spirit by researching industry trends and products, partnering with internal stakeholders to evaluate potential and current suppliers, to identify potential opportunities that will drive the company's competitive advantage.

OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
4 or more years Experience in P&C, Project Management, Process Engineering, Supplier Management, or Channel Management
Proficient knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and regulatory requirements
Proficient knowledge of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access; Data Analysis Tools; and any other applicable Internal/External System
4 or more years recent Commercial Lines Property & Casualty Underwriting experience.
Masters Degree or Completed Insurance Designation(s) such as CPCU, AINS, etc.

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $54,800 - $98,700* (this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
