Infrastructure Engineer - Mid level
Purpose of JobWe are seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer with mid-level experience for our corporate office located in San Antonio, TX or 100% remote from any location.
Note: This job profile is designated as a Sensitive Position. Sensitive Positions are those positions in which individuals have the authority and ability to conduct in-scope activities (movement of USAA or Member funds) as defined within the Enterprise Sensitive Positions Mandatory Time-Away Compliance Policy. Employees in Sensitive Positions are required to fulfill a Mandatory Time-Away (MTA) requirement of 10 consecutive business days each calendar year.

Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining and supporting infrastructure and individual system components that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
Designs scalable infrastructure with minimal oversight, implements system change with consistency and autonomy, automates service delivery and maintenance tasks, and builds monitoring and tooling for systems.
Resolves complex production issues with independence by troubleshooting complex systems independently
Analyzes complex outages in order to identify opportunities
Experiments with new patterns and technologies
Understands and consistently exercises engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
Understands the customer and identifies solutions and ideas for the customer with some assistance
Evaluates potential solutions with some oversight
May begin mentoring junior engineers.
Minimum Education/Experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field of study,
Certification from an approved technical field of study,
4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required.
4+ years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s).
3+ years of experience with DFSMS/DFHSM
3+ years of experience with IBM TS77 virtual tape
3+ years of experience with Dell/EMV Vmax storage and SRDF replication
Experience with TDMF
Experience with Disaster Recovery testing
Understanding of risk management fundamentals: policies, standards, procedures, processes, and controls

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $88,200 - $158,900* (this does not include geographic differential, it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
