Credit Operations Analytics Executive

Purpose of Job

Leads teams responsible for credit operations business activities and provides oversight for implementation of policies and processes based on analytical trends, strategies and operational guidelines for the credit operations organization. The role is accountable for developing and implementing, a multi-year, strategic vision for the Bank’s infrastructure and operations. Serves as an integral member of the USAA Bank executive management team. Leads implementation and change management efforts across Bank Operations and the extended Enterprise Support Groups. Champions process excellence and ownership within Credit Operations, leads multi-million-dollar infrastructure investments, develops high-performing teams, and advocates the USAA mission throughout the Enterprise. Accountable for the development and delivery of credit and operational analytics risk strategies for consumer lending portfolios and collections to optimize profitable growth within risk appetite. Leads detailed analysis, utilizing sophisticated analytical and financial modeling and statistical techniques to predict, evaluate and manage the credit risk across various loan portfolios. Provides strategic guidance and oversight on product performance, profitability and potential loss.

Job Requirements

Tasks:

Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.   

Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

Provides executive-level thought leadership and contributes to strategy development and operational planning, and execution for Credit Operation Analytics activities. 

Responsible for developing policies, procedures, and controls related to all credit operations related activities and partners with the VP, Credit Operations to ensure the appropriate credit policies are in place. 

Identifies gaps and develops analytical strategies to increase efficiencies of operating strategies, policies, procedures and compliance in fulfillment and servicing of consumer loans. 

Drives a strategic and proactive approach to improving processes and controls by leveraging the wider Credit Operations teams and other groups within the Federal Savings Bank.

Leads analytics research activities designed to drive fundamentally sound expense and productivity management, capacity planning and performance management disciplines for Credit Operations organization. 

Stays abreast of industry changes, developments in regulatory requirements and leading-edge techniques for credit risk analysis.  

Develops, delivers, and implements credit policy to support corporate risk and revenue growth objectives.

Liaises with Compliance, Risk and Legal teams on legal and regulatory considerations that impact Credit Operations Analytics in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Builds and manages a high performing team of Credit Operations leaders and professionals through recruitment, training, coaching, performance management and related managerial activities.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree.

4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Experience:

10 years in banking, credit union operations, or experience operating in a highly regulated financial services industry with knowledge of bank products, services, systems, operational policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance issues to include 6 progress experience within credit risk, lending analytics, risk oversight, audit, or compliance functions within a financial services industry.

8 years in Operations Research, Engineering or other quantitative field to include default activities, loss forecast activities and stress test modeling. 

4 years of direct people leadership responsibilities developing high performing teams.

Knowledge of RPython, SaaS Machine Learning and Data Visualization tools such as Cognos and Tableau.

Experience with developing analytical and business strategy for default segmentation, dialer and contact strategies as well as experience in credit loss forecasting and operational planning and forecasting.

Proven ability to communicate to and influence leaders across multiple disciplines and executive levels

Experience leading across complex organizational lines in a matrix structure.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate analysis to a non-technical audience.

Advanced knowledge of state and federal regulatory issues impacting the financial services industry.

Preferred:

  • Extensive knowledge of RPython, SaaS Machine Learning and Data Visualization tools such as Cognos and Tableau.
  • 20+ years of relevant experience
  • MBA
