Purpose of JobWe are seeking a dedicated Business Risk and Controls Advisor, Bank. This role will partner and collaborate with Compliance and Risk Management, as well as Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and Regulators to support Risk and compliance-based initiatives. This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO or Tampa, FL or work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.
You will support governance over desktop procedures and enterprise work list. This is a central risk role and you will have the opportunity to work with different business units. You will partner with other areas of the enterprise to ensure procedures are reviewed and business is adhering to them.

What you'll do:
Advise the business on how to strengthen and lead their control environment pertaining to oversight of procedures/processes, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, Company or Staff Agency Third Party Governance, or quality governance.
Perform ongoing supervision and oversight of business controls which may include the coordination of testing, root cause analysis, control design, and examining key Risk metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of established business controls.
Perform risk data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, applying business intelligence tools.
Partner with business owners to assist them in the identification of control failures and assesses the impact.
Assist with translating control deficiencies into action plans and facilitates effective and timely risk remediation through action plan oversight; provides recommendations to enhance governance practices in alignment with frameworks.
Maintain processes, procedures, and tools for handling exception alerts as they occur, including monitoring of resulting exception cases.
Provide control oversight to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Serve as a resource to team members.
Identify and lead existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 4 years' experience supporting risk and/or compliance-related activities in a financial services operating environment or other relevant industry; OR 4 years' experience in a relevant quantitative field; OR advanced degree or designation in a risk management or quantitative field, and 2 years' experience supporting risk and/or compliance related activities; OR PhD in a risk management or quantitative field.
Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to include: OCC Heightened Standards, BSA/AML, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP, TILA/REG Z, SCRA, FCRA, MLA
What sets you apart:
Experience writing and or reviewing desktop procedures.
Experience working with Enterprise Work List or with Work Item tasks
Proven problem solver – ability to break down complex problems by component, resolve root cause, and develop/drive/implement clear steps to solution.
Process improvement experience.
Ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with business partners in a collaborative, productive manner.
Real Estate experience a plus, but not required.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $78,670.00 - $141,570.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
