Purpose of Job

Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams including partners from enterprise strategy, business management (i.e., requirements development), process engineering, change management, IT, HR (i.e., organizational design) and business leadership in the development of operational designs (people, process, technology and information) capable of achieving strategic objectives through the solution delivery process. Plays a key role in structuring and integrating the business in terms of governance / accountability, business functions, business processes, and business information. Serves as a transformation agent to champion innovative initiatives at the enterprise, CoSA or unit level. Manages multiple initiatives of extensive scope and complexity. Drives and directs quality work efforts. Accountable for achieving business objectives and results; and has the authority to make business related decisions. Serves as a coach and mentor to other team members on escalated project issues and personnel development. Guides, mentors and coaches Business Architects in the execution of their assignments. Advises senior management on issues.

Job Requirements

  • Manages multiple initiatives of extensive scope and complexity. Leads and facilitates cross-functional, collaborative teams in transformational initiatives using business architecture principles to ensure target state is achieved.
  • Develops and applies expert knowledge of assigned and related business domains and enterprise and business architecture discipline.
  • Serves as a primary resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a unique nature.
  • Guides, mentors and coaches Business Architects in the development and delivery of their work products critical to goal achievement and team success.
  • Monitors the work of less experienced peers and team members and provides input on performance appraisals.
  • Leads the development of training curriculum to educate partners and peers on strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Captures and understands business objectives, measures, and targets to provide traceability.
  • Ensures that target state designs align to and enable business and enterprise objectives.
  • Performs current state assessments against target state to identify people, process, technology, and information gaps.
  • Utilizes the current state assessments and architectural designs to develop a transformation roadmap.
  • Leads the development of an integrated view of the business using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and defined USAA techniques.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to the architecture community (i.e., Technology, Information, Organization Design, Process Engineering) and Program Management to ensure alignment.
  • Leads and manages (clarify, define, coordinate, and direct) all Business Architecture discipline staff engagements, including quality reviews.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with business leaders/strategy owners.
  • Advises executive roles through objective metrics of progress and recommended directional changes to current and future state.
  • Provides written or verbal counsel, correspondence, and or develops presentations to/for executive levels.
  • Analyzes the current business environment to detect critical deficiencies and identify improvement opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 8 or more years relevant business architecture experience to include strategy impact analysis, conceptual and solution design, planning, solution delivery oversight (i.e., process design, business requirements, and change management), and solution performance analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques and methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of industry tools (e.g., capability models and roadmaps, process models, interaction diagrams, use cases, business cases, cost/benefit and ROI analysis).
  • Expert understanding of conceptual architectures (Web, Client-server, Real-time integration, and SOA).
  • Expert knowledge of process engineering methodologies and/or Business Process Management (BPM) and process management principles.
  • Expert understanding of business operations and the key business drivers.
  • Expert experience facilitating large, cross-functional work groups.
  • Demonstrated success operating in a highly collaborative environment with a strong ability to influence.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applicable databases.

Preferred Requirements

  • Deep Retail Banking industry experience within specific product discipline (deposits, disputes, credit card, consumer lending).
  • Experience in Business Architecture strategy/solution design.
  • Strong knowledge of Retail Banking regulations
