Purpose of Job

Job Description Summary
USAA Life Insurance Company is a direct distributor of fixed life insurance, fixed annuities and Medicare supplement insurance through a call center-based, captive agent force and USAA's own website and mobile app. Recently, USAA announced its intention to also distribute annuities through select intermediaries. This role will execute the strategy, grow annuity production and add life insurance distribution to this new channel for USAA. USAA is using a Third Party Administrator (TPA) as a full Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solution for most administrative and operational processes, including policy administration, underwriting and fulfillment, agent servicing and policy holder servicing. USAA membership eligibility is not required to purchase USAA Life Company products.

Job Requirements

Job Description
  • Develops and maintains relationships with distributors' product gatekeepers, sales force, operations teams and other key stakeholders
  • Develops and executes business plans resulting in increased sales of USAA products
  • Oversee all required due diligence for new and existing firms
  • Recommends new product and distribution opportunities to the General Managers of each product line, including prioritization
  • Executes the 3rd party distribution strategy and deploys this new business
  • Oversees all aspects of program and project management, business case analysis, budgeting, resource requirements, internal approvals including risk assessments and required management presentations
  • Builds a pipeline of new distributors, determines the best opportunities and implements them.
  • Hires, coaches and leads the project team.  Transition to an operational business team after the issuing of the first USAA policy to a third party consumer

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree
  • 10 or more years of progressive related experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment required
  • 8 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required
  • Life & Health (Group 1) license or ability to obtain within 90 days of job entry
  • This role may be subject to Pay to Play requirements
