At USAA, we are driven by a singular mission to serve the financial needs of U.S. military members and their families. It requires a dedication to innovation at every level. Nowhere is that more evident than USAA IT. Explore how finding your place here can be the most rewarding move of your career.
Team Above All
We are a passionately supportive and collaborative team of over 3,000 employees and growing. We are built on community, demanding great work while having each other’s back in a fun, open environment. No wonder the average tenure of our IT employees is 9+ years.
A Recognized Leader
In each of the past five years, we’ve been ranked in the top two of Computerworld’s “100 Best Places to Work in IT.” We were recently named a Top 50 Employer for Minority Engineers & IT by Workforce Diversity magazine. USAA also rates among Victory Media’s Top 10 Military Friendly® Employers for the last 13 years straight. It’s this recognition that even has our competitors using our processes as benchmarks.
USAA is invested in developing technology that helps our members. So we encourage you to broaden and deepen your knowledge base. Employees often submit ideas to our Innovation Lab or participate in coding competitions, driving the next wave of solutions. Our employees own over 600 U.S. patents, and we were one of the first in remote banking, as well as home and mobile deposit services.
No Typical Day
Our IT projects are as varied as they are innovative. We’re built on Agile principles and develop both member-facing and infrastructure products. We process over 20 million computer transactions daily. We’re also leading the way in biometrics, mobile development and Web apps for claims. We have the infrastructure, budget and leadership to back it up, along with state-of-the-art facilities in San Antonio and Plano, Texas.

“There is no typical day. Some days, I am coding and building prototypes so others can get a feel for what a finished product would look like. I also regularly share the ideas that we are working on with organization leaders and give tours to employees who visit our department. Every day is different; you never know what you may be working on tomorrow.”
